A legacy of faith spanning generations
Christianity was first introduced to the region by Portuguese missionaries. The area of Nandakhal became part of the early Christian settlements in the Northern Konkan region.
Holy Spirit Church Nandakhal was officially established in 1858, making it one of the historic churches in the Vasai-Virar region. The church was built to serve the growing Catholic community in the area.
The church was formally established as a parish in 1886, becoming an important center for Catholic worship and community life in the Northern Konkan region.
Throughout the 20th century, the parish grew significantly, serving multiple villages and communities. The church became known for its strong community bonds and active participation in social and religious activities.
Today, Holy Spirit Church Nandakhal continues to be a vital part of the Catholic community in the Palghar district, serving the spiritual needs of its parishioners and maintaining its rich heritage of faith and service.
